We reply in Italian and in English. Your choices stay in the page address, after the hash sign: they do not reach our servers and they contain no personal data.
How we calculate
Each answer switches on one or more criteria and gives them a weight. For each criterion a hamlet sits between zero and one:
- December sun: hours of sun at ground level on 21 December, under a clear sky. Preliminary estimate on the terrain model: trees, buildings and eaves are not considered. estimate
- Centre on foot: minutes on foot to the town hall, in the hamlet of Bach, where the post office, the pharmacy and the supermarket are.
- Ski lifts: minutes on foot to the base station of the nearest ski lift.
- Cross-country trail: distance as the crow flies from the cross-country trail. estimate
- Distance from the main road: horizontal distance between the streets of the hamlet and the main road. It is not a noise measurement. estimate
- Beginners’ slope: minutes on foot to the Campetti beginners’ slope and the snow park; for Cima Sappada, its own beginners’ carpet lift.
- Historic timber: how much historic timber architecture remains, on four levels that we assigned by reading the fact sheets on the hamlets.
- Recent construction: how much recently built or rebuilt property there is, on four levels that we assigned.
The value of a hamlet is rescaled between the minimum and the maximum of the fifteen; then score = sum of the weights times the values, divided by the sum of the weights, times one hundred. The weights of each answer and the values of each hamlet are in a public data file in the code of the site, each with the sentence it comes from.
We always show three hamlets, never one: a ranking on approximate measurements cannot give a winner. For each one we say where it falls behind what you asked for, and its drawbacks in any case.
What the tool does not know: which homes are for sale, the condition and the degree of heritage protection of each building, the traffic, the view from a window. In the smaller hamlets, finding a home for sale is rare.
